Opinion OPINION: Vote Your Convictions I haven't watched even a minute of the DNC convention. Melody didn't think it would be good on my blood pressure or our television (in case I decided to throw something at it) for me to watch any of it. Now, that's not to say I haven't read or heard news stories on what was said. I just didn't waste my time watching it. OPINION: Life Erosion The motivation for this tale came from my granddaughter, Sarah. As I now recall, it must have been six or seven months ago when my recollections of the "good old days" became too monotonous and tedious for her to endure, so she asked a question which I was quite willing to provide an answer for. "So what was so great about those days; those days when you were young?" There it was, the question for which I thought I had an abundance of answers. OPINION: We Know The End I'm not quite sure which has been worse to endure over the last few months, the pandemic or the disintegration of our political system. Both are beyond disturbing, but, with the pandemic, there is at least some hope that there could be an end at some point in time. Religion RELIGION: 'Seek Those Things Which Are Above' "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory." Colossians 3:1-4 by Randy Moll RELIGION: You Have Potential To Do Great Things Pastor took us to a portion of scripture in 2nd Timothy 1: 6-7. We are reminded in verse 6 that we are to stir up the gift that is within us. We all have a God-given gift that we have to use. RELIGION: Walk Worthy With The Lord Beautiful fall decorations adorned our sanctuary as we gathered to worship Sunday morning at Mill Creek Baptist Church. Doug Cory greeted the congregation, welcomed visitors and opened our worship service with prayer. Special prayers were requested for Jimmy Easter, Bentley, Donna, Joe and those in Louisiana in the hurricane. Mrs. McCaine shared a praise. In announcements, we will sponsor the Triumphant Quartet to sing at Blankenship Park in Southwest City on Sunday, Sept. 20. It is a free concert, but you will need to bring a chair.
